We love it when our patients are so happy!
Check out the beautiful smile from Jan as she uses her new walker.
Jan came to us earlier this year, following a fall where she broke her left hip. After six weeks of rehab, she needed further help at her assisted living facility. Jan’s primary care doctor referred her to Mobile PT to help regain core strength, endurance, and function. Of primary concern was her weakness in both legs, but especially her left leg which had been injured. Jan was also experiencing a lot of pain.
Jan was wheelchair bound and unable to walk on her own. She could transfer from her wheelchair to a chair or bed independently, but with increased effort. She wanted to stop using the wheelchair and regain her ability to walk and be more mobile. Prior to working with our Physical Therapist, Will, she was unable to stand for longer than 10 seconds and couldn’t perform household duties. Will thought Jan was an excellent candidate for PT to improve her walking, balance and reduce fall risk.
The Work Pays Off
After several months of hard work and therapy Jan is feeling much better! She has substantially less pain in her hip and is walking with less fatigue and takes fewer rest breaks. Jan can stand for longer periods of time, feels stronger and safer when moving around. She raves about her new walker and says it is life changing. She went from needing a wheelchair to get to the dining room, to being able to move through the facility independently with her walker. Well done, Jan!
Keep on your feet!
